Course Outline:
The Difficult Airway Course EMS® covers the full range of airway management techniques, including the use of video laryngoscopes, extra-glottic devices, drug assisted intubation and cricothyrotomy. The course includes exercises in practical decision-making and airway techniques by using specially designed simulations. These simulations include raised intra-cranial pressure, pulmonary oedema, cardiogenic shock, status asthmaticus, foreign body in airway, direct airway trauma, poly trauma with shock and other possible scenarios. This course encourages participants to practice decision-making and airway techniques in special set up stations to enhance theoretical knowledge with practical experience.
Certification:
The course includes both a theoretical and practical assessment. On successful completion of the course the participants are awarded a certificate by First Airway, LLC, an organization accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Pre-Hospital Continuing Education (CAPCE)®.
