


Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support Course (PHTLS®)

Course Outline:
PHTLS® courses are designed to improve the quality of trauma care and decrease mortality. The underlying philosophy of the PHTLS® course is to promote excellence in trauma patient management by all providers involved in the delivery of Pre-Hospital Care. PHTLS® promotes critical thinking as the foundation for providing quality care to enable the emergency responders to make reasoned decisions regarding patient care. Course content was developed by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians in cooperation with the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma.
Certification:
The course includes both a theoretical and practical assessment. On successful completion of the course the participants are awarded a certificate that is valid for 4 years. PHTLS® is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Pre-Hospital Continuing Education (CAPCE)®.
